Toulouse

Sunday afternoon.  4:55 p.m. Standard Time.  63°F.  Doobie’s Toulouse Street keepin’ me company.  Good times.  Say what you want…and maybe you were never down with the Doobies…but they still make for a great time on the patio.  Toulouse Street is pre-Michael McDonald, a little less soul, a little more rock and roll.

Taketheweather
Sunday evening.  5:55 pm.  77°F with 41% humidityNormally I’m cheering for low humidity…with last week’s fires any little bit is a good thing.  Got Jimmy’s Take the Weather with You keepin’ me company out here.  The regular noise from the tanker planes still working the Santiago Canyon fire in the background.  Not the DC 10…but still an impressive sight.  Actually, if you didn’t catch the DC 10 you really need to watch this video.  Very impressive.

Sundown.  66 degrees.  63% humidity.  Rained Friday.  It does that here you know…just not very often.  Just said to my sister-in-law (visiting from Texas), "if God meant there to be hot, humid nights in October…"  To be honest, I didn’t know how to finish the sentence.  So glad to back in So Cal after 12 years in Houston.

Fajitas on the grill.   Eagles’ Hell Freezes Over on the stereo.  Our own Tequila Sunrise…in a manner of speaking.  Good times.  Wish you were here.

Meanwhile, back on the patio, it’s a nice 77 degrees, with a cool breeze barely tickling the Queen Palms. And the Red Banana is really looking good. Perfect weather for a little Jimmy Buffett! Wish you were here!

Dire_straits
5:52 p.m. 77°F.  The key today was that it rained.  Not honest-to-goodness Texas rain.  But it did rain.  Gave our backyard a nice dampening.  Gave everything that good smell.  Although they say, "it never rains in California"…it actually does.  Just not a whole lot.  We think it rained last during the first week of April.  So…it doesn’t have to rain a lot to be a major event here.  I know it was really nice.

Now the humidity has moved out.  It’s much cooler right now.  And really good to be out on the patio.  Got a little Dire Straits going.  Fountain gurgling in the background.  Mark’s jammin’ spaghetti later.   Good times.

News from the Patio

A beautiful day in So Cal.  Great surf and temperature down at San Clemente earlier.  87°F at 5:25 p.m.   Hot…but not radically hot.

Fajitas on the grill.  Mark’s jammin’ roasted tomato and jalapeño salsa to go with it.  Good times!  Wish you were here!

News from the Patio

6:35 pm.  Still 79°F , but hey…it’s August 12th.  When I think back to our Houston days…we’ll take it anytime.

Little bit of Jimmy Buffett playin’.  One Particular Harbour was calling my name at the end of the day.  Good way to end a weekend.  Nothin’ like a little island music.  Check it out.

Update on the Patio

5:50 p.m. 71 degrees.  Buena Vista Social Club on the stereo.  If you’ve never heard the Buena Vista Social Club you’ve REALLY missed out.  Here’s a link to one of their best songs, Chan Chan, featuring Rubén González, Ibrahim Ferrar, and Compay Segundo (Cuban legends) to give you the feel…so that you’re down too!
