News from the Patio

Pride_of_madeira
It’s been a couple weeks.  I’m sure I’m spoiled…but if it’s above 80 degrees I don’t feel like posting from the patio!  According to the weather channel it’s 97 and feels like 97 at 5:47.  Dohhhhhh!  As Randy said about David Cook’s Music of the Night , "It’s a molten hot lava bomb!"

On the bright side?  My Pride of Madeira echium has a massive bloom (foreground) on the way! Starting to turn blue…but still light blue.  Should be turning a much darker shade soon.

In the meantime?  Hope you’re able to be out on the patio…wherever you are.

News from the Blazing Hot Patio

97 degrees out on the patio…but it’s a dry heat.  Probably should have put a picture of my blue Huntington Agave…but the Echium is about to bloom for the first time…and it’s going to be awesome!

What About Now

Shout out to the Daughtry segment on Idol tonight.

Play Ball!

Assignment #1: Write a poem about Baseball and God
by Philip E. Burnham, Jr.

And on the ninth day, God
In His infinite playfulness
Grass green grass, sky blue sky,
Separated the infield from the outfield,
Formed a skin of clay,
Assigned bases of safety
On cardinal points of the compass
Circling the mountain of deliverance,
Fashioned a wandering moon
From a horse, a string and a gum tree,
Tempered weapons of ash,
Made gloves from the golden skin of sacrificial bulls,
Set stars alight in the Milky Way,
Divided the descendants of Cain and Abel into contenders,
Declared time out, time in, stepped back,
And thundered over all of creation:
                                       "Play ball!"

News from the Patio

Actually…this news comes from inside looking out.  It may be 54°F, but it is not outside weather.  Can’t hang…blood’s just too thin.   Spent the day playing scrabble and checking who the Bruins will play on Saturday.  Memphis…should be a lot of fun!  Hope you had a great day!

The Greatest Dodger Moment

Kirk_gibson
On Saturday, October 15th, 1988, I was having dinner at Debbie’s apartment.  We would be married about two months later.  That night we saw Kirk Gibson hit a homerun to win game 1 of the 1988 World Series against the Oakland Athletics.

David Cook…the New House Favorite

Don’t know if you’ve caught on to David Cook yet…but he’s worked this thing out…to quote Randy.  Jammin’!  Billie Jean rocked.  Eleanor Rigby was jammin’.  Daytripper started a three week melee!  Started out thinking that David Archuleta wins…no more.  Cook rules.

Ed Young, Jr. Meets Joel Osteen

Some things are just too good to pass up.  Enjoy it for what it’s worth…there’s actually quite a message if you watch through to the end.  Gotta love it!

Future

Sunday afternoon.  4:30 pm.  Still 70°F out here on the patio.  A little Jimmy Buffett after a great day in So Cal.  Saddleback Church in the a.m.  Debbie’s awesome chicken salad sandwich for lunch.  Lakers over Mavs in overtime.  Kobe goes off for 52.  Lakers with the best record in the West.  Good times.

By the way, we caught Michael Clayton this week and it was a great show.  Kept us on the edge of our seats the whole time.

Secret Agent Man

There’s a commercial on these days for Chase Bank…and the song always makes me want to listen to the whole song.  So here it is:

‘Course if you want some comedy you could listen to the David Hasselhoff version:
