Picked up The Daily Drucker : 366 Days of Insight and Motivation for Getting the Right Things Done. This has a lot of potential! Each day has a key insight from one of Drucker’s books or writings. There’s a cool intro by Jim Collins. Really a reflection on a visit he paid to Peter Drucker in 1994, just as Built to Last : Successful Habits of Visionary Companies was being published. Very interesting.
Yesterday’s insight? "The purpose of an organization is to enable common men to do uncommon things." What’s so insightful? It’s not about knowing what to do. It is about doing. It not at all about talking about it, preaching about it, or good intentions. It’s all about practices.
Each day has an insight, some helpful unpacking, and an action point. Yesterday’s action point? Focus on performance, opportunities (as opposed to problems), decisions that affect people, and integrity.
This is a well spent $12.97!
