If you’ve been tracking StrategyCentral for the last year you know how much The 7 Practices of Effective Ministry has influenced the conversation.  As I’ve said many times, I don’t believe the ideas there are limited to a church or ministry…they just are true truths of life.  But if you’re in the business we’re in you’re missing the ride if you haven’t read and begun to implement 7 Practices.  And let me say it again…it’s all about the hard work of implementation.  (I’ve posted on some of the key ideas: Clarify the Win, More on Clarify the Win and Narrow the Focus)

Two weeks ago I tripped across Simple Church by Thom Rainer and Eric Geiger, a great companion to 7 Practices.  This is an important book.  Based on their study of over 400 American churches, Rainer and Geiger illustrate the effectiveness of the discipline of simple.

If you’re attempting to get to the bottom of how to become more effective, Simple Church will be the best book you pick up this summer.
