So here’s the question of the day: What is the secret to obtaining results?  According to Peter Drucker the secret is not in identifying the wrinkles in your current plan.  It’s not in Six Sigma or TQM.  It’s not even in fixing the problems in your current operation.  It’s actually in exploiting opportunities.

"Results are obtained by exploiting opportunities, not by solving problems.  All one can hope to get by solving a problem is to restore normality (p. 5)."

True?  How about the line, "all one can hope to get by solving a problem is to restore normality."  That is a jammin’ statement, don’t you think?  I’ve got to say, that is a GREAT corollary to the the absence of problem-free.

Oh, and I picked up a new book over the weekend, Managing for Results by Peter Drucker.  Based on the first 12 pages…we’re all in for a treat.  Good, good stuff.

    The problem with restoring to “normality” is…who knows what “normal” is? With the increasing number of dysfunctional organizations, “normal” has certainly become distorted. I prefer to not restore to anything from the past, but to morph into the organization of the future…Ken
