Bill Taylor has a great article on the danger of the middle of the road over at the Mavericks at Work blog.  Comparing the consistent success of Honda, Southwest, and Netflix with the flailing going on in so many bottom lines…he’s onto the fact that there are three key elements that differentiate winners from losers.

  • Commitment to be the "most at something,"
  • Consistency and sticking with what you believe in, and
  • Connecting deeply with customers "not just on price and features, but on identity and emotion."
